The overall rating is informed by three main areas: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. Health inspection information reflects results from standard surveys and, when applicable, complaint investigations. Staffing data considers nursing care provided to residents. Quality measures draw on clinical information, including outcomes that can relate to mobility, pain, pressure injuries, medication use, hospitalizations, and other aspects of resident well-being.

In addition to Medicare’s traditional Five-Star Quality Rating held by Finnish-American Village, this prestigious trophy designation recognizes FAV for meeting an additional 11 rigorous federal eligibility criteria established by CMS.

The results identified three primary categories for participant needs: The need to be physically active and spend time outdoors, the need to stay socially connected and the need for meaningful activities. Participants cited maintaining their independence and continuing to live at home as long as possible as a motivation for staying physically active while highlighting geriatric conditions such as falls and memory loss as obstacles to staying active. With regard to social connection, all respondents described their families as kind, helpful and important in giving meaning to their daily life and also emphasized that daily visits from the home care service were very important.

Finnish-American Home Care, a not-for-profit nurse registry, is proud to announce that it has received a deficiency-free survey from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). This distinction reflects full compliance with all state regulations and underscores the organization’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.

From housekeeping and dining services to nursing and leadership, every team member plays a vital role in ensuring that residents receive attentive, compassionate care each and every day. The countless hours of compassion, collaboration, and effort behind the scenes make this recognition possible.

Results of a recent study showed that among participants, the geometric mean composition of a 24-hour period should be: 43.1% sleep, 30.6% sedentary behavior, 21.8% light physical activity and 4.5% moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). Additionally, LPA was positively associated with good physical and mental health, while additional sleep showed negative associations. Researchers found that reallocating 30 minutes from sedentary behavior or sleep to light physical activity significantly improved both physical and mental health.

With warm weather creating the perfect setting, nearly every resident from both Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living was able to participate and enjoy the festivities—an especially meaningful moment for a community rooted in heritage and excellent care.
