Finnish-American Village Recognized Among Palm Beach County’sTop-10 Under New Federal Medicare Program
Finnish-American Village is proud to announce that it has earned a prestigious new federal distinction from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), becoming one of only 10 nursing homes in Palm Beach County to receive the new trophy designation displayed on the Medicare.gov Care Compare website.
The recognition is part of CMS's newly introduced Risk-Based Survey (RBS) program, which identifies nursing homes that demonstrate consistently strong performance in quality of care, staffing, regulatory compliance, and health inspections.
In addition to Medicare’s traditional Five-Star Quality Rating held by Finnish-American Village, this prestigious trophy designation recognizes FAV for meeting an additional 11 rigorous federal eligibility criteria established by CMS. These standards encompass regulatory compliance, health inspection performance, and additional safeguards related to resident care, diagnostic accuracy, and operational stability. The distinction reflects a comprehensive commitment to quality, accountability, and excellence in senior care.
The significance of this recognition extends beyond Palm Beach County. Based on June 2026 CMS data, only 92 of Florida's 694 nursing homes—approximately 13.26%—qualified initially for the new designation. Nationwide, CMS estimated that approximately 12% of nursing homes would meet the program's initial standards.
These figures underscore the selectivity of the new designation and the significance of Finnish-American Village's achievement and represents far more than an icon displayed on a federal website. It reflects the extraordinary commitment of an entire team dedicated to providing compassionate, safe, and high-quality care to older adults. Every department contributes to this achievement—from nurses and certified nursing assistants to rehabilitation professionals, dietary services, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, and administrative leadership.
"This recognition belongs to every member of our Finnish-American Village family. It reflects the compassion, professionalism, and dedication our team brings to caring for our residents each and every day,” says Daniel Benson, MS, NHA, and Executive Director of FAV since 2017. “We are especially proud to be among such a small number of facilities in Florida to earn this distinction. Our commitment has always been to provide not only excellent care, but a place where our residents feel respected, valued, and truly at home."
As a not-for-profit senior living community, Finnish-American Village has built its mission around the belief that older adults deserve exceptional care in an environment that fosters dignity, independence, meaningful relationships, and a genuine sense of belonging.
The new CMS recognition reinforces the organization's ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability to the residents and families it serves.
"While we are honored to receive this federal recognition, our greatest measure of success will always be the well-being of our residents and the confidence their families place in us," Benson added.
Residents, families, and community members can view the designation through the official Medicare.gov Care Compare website.
