Finnish-American Village Celebrates Maija Toukolehto, a Devoted Leader of Care and Compassion, Has Retired after 26+ Years of Dedication

Lake Worth, FL — It is with deep gratitude and mixed emotions that Finnish-American Village announces the retirement of Maija Toukolehto, who, after 26 years of unwavering commitment, has stepped away from her cherished role as our Social Services Director. Prior to this, Maija served as an Activities Assistant. Prior to her emigration to the United States from Finland, Maija served as a Crisis Worker in the Hospital system.

Known for her gentle voice and boundless empathy, she has been instrumental in supporting staff and residents alike through everyday joys and life’s toughest moments, including assisting to navigate the unending challenges of the Social Security Administration and Medicaid. Maija has been a steadfast presence, serving Finnish-American Village as Social Services Director for over 26 years, and has been a guiding light in our community. Her dedication has made our home not just a care facility—but a community imbued with warmth and trust.
