The demand for a Finnish Rest Home actively emerged in the 1960’s in the midst of Finnish Community in Florida. Many Finnish-Americans felt it important to establish an assisted living facility for Finns and Finnish-minded seniors, where they will receive quality care and their values and heritage would be respected.
Almost immediately after the Rest Home was opened, plans to build a Nursing Home were started. The founders foresaw the need for skilled nursing care for the entire community. After years of battling against bureaucracy, the American-Finnish Nursing Home was opened in 1979 to all nationalities.
We Finns are proud of our achievement and are pleased to provide services to our elderly residents in a family like environment. Our volunteers and Finnish community are actively involved with the Rest Home and Nursing Home activities and events.
